This handbook provides teachers (and pupils), decision makers, educational support staff in schools as well as content developers and distributors with information about state of the art streaming media technologies in education. It highlights the opportunities for their practical use in education, and offers practical, hands-on information for everyone interested in planning a streaming activity. The publication includes a selection of educational projects applying streaming media, as well as relevant tools from all over Europe and beyond.

The main aim of this publication is to summarise the efforts of eStream undertaken to gain more insight into the impact of streaming media technology on the quality of teaching and learning. The publication, therefore, includes the learning/teaching scenarios developed by the eStream partnership, together with some conclusions. Furthermore, the publication contains considerable information on general aspects of streaming media technology in education, taking into account that readers might be beginners interested in the topic, but with little background in the thematic area. The booklet closes with a chapter dedicated to emerging developments and their impact on streaming media.

A review entitled "Streaming Media in education and their usage on a large-scale basis" written by the eStream partnership has been published in May 2006 and can be downloaded here (PDF).

The aim of this publication is to provide guidance to all those working on understanding and evaluating the different aspects of video streaming in education: This includes technological, educational and organisational aspects, issues related to audiovisual content, IPR and copyright regulations and a look at possible future scenarios for educational applications of streaming media technology. The publication contains a series of case studies from all over Europe.

This publication focuses on the current situation and problematic issues related to the transnational exchange of streaming material. It includes educational, financial and legal aspects of streaming and the transnational exchange of such, as well as forthcoming technical standards.

This guideline guides through the eSTREAM online website with all online services provided.

A review entitled "Creating, using and integrating streaming media in the teaching of science" written by the University of Patras has been published in July 2006 and can be downloaded here (PDF).

This report describes the usage of the physical demo site in Patras/GREECE.

A review entitled "Final concluding report of eStream" written by Petra Reiter (in cooperation with Caroline Weigner and Anton Knierzinger - EDUCATION HIGHWAY) has been published in July 2006 and can be downloaded here (PDF). There is also a Greek version and a German version available!

The aim of this report is to provide a recapitulating overview of the different activities and outcomes of the SOCRATES/MINERVA project “eStream – Increasing the use of streaming media in school education in Europe”. The publication is based on the work carried out within the project, and its outcomes.

eSTREAM project organised a successful seminar in Leuven/Belgium on the use of video in the classroom

From Thursday 26 until Saturday 28 of May 2005, 40 European experts in the use of media for education, gathered in Leuven for a three day seminar, organised by ATiT on behalf of the eStream project.

The physical demo site in Patras

The physical demo site has been set up for one part at the Science Laboratory of the University of Patras, School of education. Within eStream, schools are invited to come to the university for a day in order to explore the demo site. The demo site website is available in English and Greek language!
