An audience of 20 Irish secondary school teachers gathered in Mayo Education Centre to assist a half-day workshop "Streaming Video in the Classroom" given by ATiT. Starting with a short theoretical overview teachers got practical advise and concrete exercises on how to create, edit and publish materials themselves. ATiT also provided them with ready-to-use lesson templates to integrate video in their daily teaching.

Picasso. Link: http://www.ecmayo.ie/picasso/eamonn1.htm This is an example of a filmed lesson (Talking Head). A "talking head" is someone teaching a lesson, ex-cathedra, sitting/standing in front of the camera. Afterwards, the recordings of the lesson, are put on the school's website, together with the accompanying slides of the lesson and / or other lesson documents that fit into it, such as exercises, further links.

The Phone Call: http://www.ecmayo.ie/nashcomplete.rm This is an example of film or drama. In film people (actors) are not being real but are acting or playing a certain role. Film is a medium that allows for a high degree of manipulation. Acts can be recorded or edited in such a way (e.g. by using different camera positions) that different interpretations are possible and viewers can be mislead. Film is not recorded in one shot, and not necessarily chronologically. A large amount of editing can be done.

The Egg: http://www.ecmayo.ie/sciencemarx.rm This is an example of a filmed experiment. Video is often used for demonstrating things visually or for showing dangerous experiments (e.g. chemical experiments). Sometimes, an image is worth a thousand of words and this is especially through when techniques need to be explained (e.g. the changing of a plug) or to proof some scientific statements.
